Assignment Brief
Design Development
Through out this assignment I will be using the design development cycle to further my ideas. The design development cycle is the process used in all areas of design/art e.g. computer programming, fashion, photography etc. Although the cycle changes for each different media the basic stays the same. First you do research and collect your initial ideas (Plan), then you create the product or piece of work(Build), then you review the work you've done, fix bugs, re-shoot or correct wording. Finally you evaluate the work, seeing if you met the certain criteria you have been set or set your self.
As I said every media has there own specific version. For photography the cycle works not to differently from the basic ideas. First as always you plan, do artist research and brainstorm your ideas. Once you have a strong idea and know what you want to photograph you shoot. After that you analyse the work from the shoot, seeing if you need to re-shoot. The same process can be taken when editing, you will do the work then analyse it to see if you need to re-edit. Once you are happy with your work you need to test it. A good way to do this is peer assessment, this lets other people see your work and give their opinion on it. This is a great was of getting constructive criticism and seeing what needs to be changed.
After The test you can either go back and re-shoot or re-edit, but if you are happy with your work the way it is you then Evaluate the entire process. Small evaluations should be made the whole way through the cycle but after you have totally complete you should full evaluate. Then restart the cycle for the next image or shoot.
We use the design development cycle so we can achieve better images. The cycle helps you collect enough information to fully produce your work to the highest level possible. If you fully follow the cycle you will create a better image than if you skip parts.
Using the cycle will give you a higher informed piece of work as it has been fixed, fixed and fixed again until its perfect.
